Privacy
MMAGuesser is a game and a small research project on how well people recognise fighters from movement alone. This page explains what is stored and what you can do about it.
What the game stores
- A browser cookie that keeps you signed in as a guest or account. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics.
- Your games: answers, scores, duel results, ratings and leaderboard entries, so the game works and your record is kept.
- An account, if you create one: a username and a salted, hashed password. If you use Sign in with Google, only a hashed form of Google’s anonymous account ID is stored: Google does not share your email, name or photo with us, and we never ask for them.
- Settings such as difficulty and skeleton colours.
- Network address, briefly: on the public site, a keyed hash of your network address is kept for up to a day to limit abuse. The address itself is not stored.
Research data (only if you opt in)
If you choose to take part, each answer is also saved for research under a random anonymous ID: which clip you saw, your guess, whether it was right, how long you took, how many times you played the clip, your confidence rating (research test only), and whether you used a phone or computer. If you answer them, your MMA familiarity and whether you train are stored too.
Research data never includes your name, username, email, network address or cookies. Results are analysed and may be published only as group statistics, such as “regular fans recognised 40% of fighters”.
Your choices
- Withdraw from research any time in Settings → Research. Your research answers are deleted and nothing more is recorded.
- Download your record from your profile.
- Delete everything from your profile. This removes your games, account, settings and research data.
- Hide yourself from leaderboards in Settings.
Where it is kept
Data is stored on the game’s own server, with encrypted backups kept off-site. Only the site operator can access it. Backups older than 30 days are deleted.

The clips are skeleton coordinates derived from fight footage. No video, audio or images of the footage are shown.
